Goodreads Summary

The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul.

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control. The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

My Thoughts

My first DNF of the year and i am really sad to say that it is Glass Sword. I went into this book hoping it will be better than the first one however i am really very disappointed. I did not like the first book a lot but i did rate it 4/5 stars on goodreads as i thought it has a lot of potential.

This is the second book i read by Victoria Aveyard and i am kind of glad i did not purchase Cruel Crown. I was so close to buying it but i decided not to because i was buying 3 other books. This will probably be the last book i will read from this series.

The writing was the same as book one, not enough detail and i get confused very easily. The plot was okay at first but as it continues on, i got really bored with it as it is basically the same plot line repeating itself.

I really did not like how Mare was saying the same thing throughout the first half of the book. She keeps on repeating ‘anyone can betray anyone’ i was really getting sick and tired of it.

Overall, i am really disappointed and i think i might be selling away both red queen and glass sword even though they have amazing covers.

“If I am a sword, I am a sword made of glass, and I feel myself beginning to shatter.”
