Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her.
They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
This book revolves around sixteen year old girl Lara Jean and she is half Korean. She is especially close with her sisters and they call themselves the Song girls.
Lara Jean writes love letters. Not the normal love letters that expresses her love and hoping the boy will love her back. It’s letters that indicate that she no longer wants to love the boy anymore. In her letter, she is able to express everything she want to says. After she is done, she seal it, addresses it and keep it in her hatbox. But one day, someone walks up to her and ask about her letter. Only then did she found out that her letters had been sent out. Her love life is now in a mess.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK. It is probably on my favourite shelf. The writing was wonderful, the plot was amazing and the characters was so well done. This is my first book by Jenny Han and it will not be my last. I can’t wait till i get my copy of P.S i still love you.
Lara Jean. She was so relatable! I also have two sisters, love Harry Potter and have crushes. All of us have crushes don’t we? Except mine is totally out of my league Stiles Stilinski hi *waves*. Back to topic. Lara Jean i love her so much sometimes i feel that i am not reading her story but my own story. I heard many comments that is she doesn’t act her age and is too immature but thats what makes this book amazing! The fact that she is so innocent made me love it so much more.
Peter Kavinsky i love love love him. Where can i buy a Peter Kavinsky? He is so arrogant and flirty but at the same time sweet and caring. He is just too perfect for me i want a Peter Kavinsky. I ship Lara Jean and Peter all the way! I really want them to get together in book 2!
Josh. I don’t hate him but i don’t exactly love him too. He was always like The Boy Next Door which technically he is because he just live next door hahah. He was always very protective of Lara Jean but it became too much to me when Peter and Lara started ‘dating’.
Kitty and Margot. They are part of the Song Girls. I loved them! Especially Kitty. She is so cute and adorable and it kind of reminded me of my sister the only differences is my sister is mean. 🙂 Just kidding!
Those were some of the main characters that i thought i have to talk about. Moving on, to the plot.
I first expected Lara Jean life to be filled with all the five boys when i learnt that she actually written 5 of them. I thought that it will just be another cliche book where five boys likes her and she couldn’t choose any. However that didn’t happen and it only focuses on 2 of the boys although Lucas did appear from time to time but those who read knows what happen. Also, i liked how there was different reaction from those who receive the letter and there was even one that got sent back.
Also, i loved the scene where both Lara Jean and Josh was dressed up as characters from the Harry Potter series without knowing and it made Peter jealous. I find myself smiling throughout that whole scene. It was just so cute!
I would like to say that i do cry a lot when i read book but mostly when I’m alone. However for this book, i cried. And you may wondering. Cleo! theres nothing sad in this book how can you cry?! But you are wrong! This book is sad. I cried at the very end of the book when it is about to end. The fact that both Peter and Lara loves each other made me cry. The fact that the book is about to end made me cry. The fact that i have to save money to buy the next book which is i don’t know when made me cry. I really really loved this book. I would rate it 10/5 if i could. I just hope i will be able to get it next month if i save enough money.
I highly recommend it to everyone who haven’t read it.
Until next time,
