Goodreads Summary

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her.

They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

Review

This book revolves around sixteen year old girl Lara Jean and she is half Korean. She is especially close with her sisters and they call themselves the Song girls.

Lara Jean writes love letters. Not the normal love letters that expresses her love and hoping the boy will love her back. It’s letters that indicate that she no longer wants to love the boy anymore. In her letter, she is able to express everything she want to says. After she is done, she seal it, addresses it and keep it in her hatbox. But one day, someone walks up to her and ask about her letter. Only then did she found out that her letters had been sent out. Her love life is now in a mess.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BOOK. It is probably on my favourite shelf. The writing was wonderful, the plot was amazing and the characters was so well done. This is my first book by Jenny Han and it will not be my last. I can’t wait till i get my copy of P.S i still love you.

Lara Jean. She was so relatable! I also have two sisters, love Harry Potter and have crushes. All of us have crushes don’t we? Except mine is totally out of my league Stiles Stilinski hi *waves*. Back to topic. Lara Jean i love her so much sometimes i feel that i am not reading her story but my own story. I heard many comments that is she doesn’t act her age and is too immature but thats what makes this book amazing! The fact that she is so innocent made me love it so much more.

Peter Kavinsky i love love love him. Where can i buy a Peter Kavinsky? He is so arrogant and flirty but at the same time sweet and caring. He is just too perfect for me i want a Peter Kavinsky. I ship Lara Jean and Peter all the way! I really want them to get together in book 2!

Josh. I don’t hate him but i don’t exactly love him too. He was always like The Boy Next Door which technically he is because he just live next door hahah. He was always very protective of Lara Jean but it became too much to me when Peter and Lara started ‘dating’.

Kitty and Margot. They are part of the Song Girls. I loved them! Especially Kitty. She is so cute and adorable and it kind of reminded me of my sister the only differences is my sister is mean. 🙂 Just kidding!

Those were some of the main characters that i thought i have to talk about. Moving on, to the plot.

I first expected Lara Jean life to be filled with all the five boys when i learnt that she actually written 5 of them. I thought that it will just be another cliche book where five boys likes her and she couldn’t choose any. However that didn’t happen and it only focuses on 2 of the boys although Lucas did appear from time to time but those who read knows what happen. Also, i liked how there was different reaction from those who receive the letter and there was even one that got sent back.

Also, i loved the scene where both Lara Jean and Josh was dressed up as characters from the Harry Potter series without knowing and it made Peter jealous. I find myself smiling throughout that whole scene. It was just so cute!

I would like to say that i do cry a lot when i read book but mostly when I’m alone. However for this book, i cried. And you may wondering. Cleo! theres nothing sad in this book how can you cry?! But you are wrong! This book is sad. I cried at the very end of the book when it is about to end. The fact that both Peter and Lara loves each other made me cry. The fact that the book is about to end made me cry. The fact that i have to save money to buy the next book which is i don’t know when made me cry. I really really loved this book. I would rate it 10/5 if i could. I just hope i will be able to get it next month if i save enough money.

I highly recommend it to everyone who haven’t read it.

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The poverty-stricken Reds are commoners, living in the shadow of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.

To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from the Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.

Review

If you still don’t know anything about this book, it is about a world that is divided into 2 by blood- Red and Silver.

Silver bloods rule the world with superhuman powers and Red blood are commoners that serve the silver. Mare is a red. She has been a thief until she realise that she has her own power.

In order to hide the fact that she is a red with powers, the king forces her to become a lost silver princess and to marry one of his son Maven. As she was drawn into the silver world, she found herself joining The Scarlet Guard- the leaders of Red Rebellion. The world suddenly becomes such a dangerous place and everything she do might just cause harm to her love one.

First of all, i think Victoria Aveyard deserve a round of applause from all of us for writing such a great novel especially with the fact that this was a debut novel.

The writing in this book was fantastic and i love it. The plot was really easy to follow and there were some major twist that i did not expect at all. Although the plot was nice, there were some parts that were really similar to other books. For example, some parts reminded me of Hunger Games.

It took me awhile to get into the book but once i got into it, its amazing. I find the lack of world-building in this book so hopefully it will be better explain in book two which comes out February 9.

As for the characters, i don’t know who to trust! The betrayal was so shocking.

I do not know about you guys but i really like Mare i find her very likeable. I always ship Cal and Mare and i knew i was right about it! Like YAY! I ship the right pair from the start. I always prefer CAL 🙂

I actually really like Maven too i really did trusted him but after that incident no. BYE MAVEN. GO AWAY. I love Julian character and i hope he is still around in second book.

Also, I have officially joined The Scarlet Guard. Rise Red As The Dawn.

And for my 7th mission, i have to share something with all of you!

OMG OMG. This is the trailer for Glass Sword which is coming out February 9. I’m so excited! If you haven’t read Red Queen, read it now so you can read Glass Sword with the rest of us!

Goodreads Summary

It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets to the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder – would they be better off staying in this place forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

Review

I have to admit first i actually bought this book because of its gorgeous cover and the goodreads summary did grab my attention. Also, there are so many people out there that loved this book.

I enjoyed the story but i didn’t love it. It’s just not a book for me and i was really disappointed. I really expected myself to love it but it just left me with disappointment. There are many of you out there who loved this book and i understand completely different books are for different people.

The love / hate relationship in this book was really poorly done in my opinion. I didn’t really feel any love in this book it was mostly hate. I don’t feel any connection between Lilac and Tarver is was mostly just i hate you, you hate me. I understand that at the second half of the book they did got together but really, not something i enjoy a lot.

The story was painfully slow paced and it got really boring. I had to force myself to continue reading waiting for something to happen that will hook me into the story and by the end of the story i was skipping so many parts.

I didn’t like the character i felt that they were awful. I couldn’t relate to them. Tarver was really likeable at first but he just got really annoying as the story goes on. Same for Lilac, she was really annoying. She didn’t know how to appreciate anything around.

I feel that there is a lack of world-building in this story. I didn’t understand some of the contents that were being written.

I didn’t expect the creepiest from this book and how in the world did Lilac come back? Its just so weird and i didn’t like it.

Overall, i did enjoy it but i didn’t love it and i’m not sure if i will be picking up the second book. If you have read it, what are your thoughts and should i read book 2? I hope the rest of you who intend to read it will love it 🙂

Review

I know i said this review will be up on 3rd of January, however, school started and i was trying to get use to my schedule so i didn’t have the time to write this review. But it is now Friday which also means i can read again.

Okay so now onto the review.

Like the other 3 books in the series, this book was amazing. Seriously. Anything by Morgan Rhodes is just so good. Frozen Tides is now my favourite book from the series even though the rest are equally as good.

I really enjoy the switching of POVs and i always look forward to read Magnus and Cleo ones the most. There is something that i wanted from Magnus and Cleo since book 2 and finally! In Frozen Tides it happened. Those who have read it will know what it is and those who haven’t read it, what are you doing? Go read it!

I loved the extended version of the map! it was actually so small in the first book and throughout the entire series, more details were added to it and now we finally get a full map! I’m so happy!

Jonas and Lysandra. They were slowly becoming my second favourite ship in this book when something happened. WHY MORGAN WHY 😦

I was really annoyed at Lucia throughout the entire book she just isn’t one of my favourite character. Also, she is now pregnant. Like what? What is going to happen?

In this book we found out that King Gauis had a first love and the twist at the end about Elena was so shocking! Also, the fact that King Gauis has truly loved someone before shocked me i really didn’t expect it but that’s what Morgan Rhodes do.

Nic. I liked how he found was trying to understand whats going on with him in this book. Ashur finally came back at the end and I’m really curious to know how he was able to come back and also what will happen between them.

Amara. It was really sad to see how women was treated in her country Kraeshia which was really bad. I understand so much more about her in this book and knows why she act a certain way. But why did he do that to Felix?! Now he just hates her although i have to say Felix was pretty dumb for believing her. I was kinda shipping them together i don’t know about all of you.

Theon twin brother? How can that happen so suddenly! Now Magnus is going to be in danger! What will happen to him? What will Cleo do? So many questions and yet i have to wait i don’t know how long before book 5 comes out.

The writing was fabulous, the plot and characters was really well done. There are so many scene where you can really picture in your head and that’s really one of the factors that made me like this series so much. OH before i forget, extra points for the gorgeous cover!

Overall, i really enjoyed this book and i cannot wait for the next book. I recommend it to everybody who loves fantasy or if you want to start reading fantasy but you don’t know what to read, this is definitely the book you are looking for.

Extra

This is not related to the book but i just wanted to say that i might not post up my book reviews so often anymore as i won’t have much time i will only write it on Friday and post it on either Saturday or Sunday.

I will definitely have time to write on the weekdays but my review will be really short and vague. I don’t want my review to be like that. I like it when i don’t have stress when i write my review so i can express my thoughts fully and also i can explain on more why i really enjoy or dislike the book. Also, i feel that you guys will enjoy reading my reviews more. And that’s really all i wanted when i started this blog and that is for my reader to enjoy reading the contents i post. So i hope you understand 🙂

Also it’s my birthday in a few more hours I’m so excited omg! I’m going to be a year older what!

  • I will want to meet one character of my choice although i don’t know which character i would like to meet haahaha

Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?

  • I love going to bookstore! But i don’t have the money so never be allowed in a bookstore. 😦

Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?

  • I will cry if any of it happens! But i would rather my have one of my favourite character die because OTP is still OTP

Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?

  • Twilight. I have never read any of it but definitely Twilight for the rest of my life.
